Pants to Shorts

Recently, I decided to use Peek-a-boo patterns Skinny Jeans as a base for some shorts.  I had some hounds-tooth fabric that I wanted to use for Ezra and I thought I'd make some longer "bermuda style" shorts for Lila too.  I was excited by how they both turned out.
I like this pattern for the skinny jeans already and it's definitely already paid for itself, but it worked quite well for shorts too.  For Lila's, I used the same {reverse Dalmatian?} material as Madelyn's bubble shorts.  It's nice and light weight for summer.
 I don't really have a method to how I shortened the length.  I just sort of guesstimated using some existing shorts.
{And I'm pretty sure Lila's sandals are backwards.  Poor child.  Too bad I noticed now instead of before I took pictures.}
Dog gone this boy and his inability to stay still.   He kept running away from me.  I couldn't get a good picture to save my life!
I tried again another day {by introducing the pockets to him} with a little bit more luck.  A very little.
But the gist of it is here, right?
And that's all folks.  I got a serger for my b.day and I'm off to go try to make friends with it!

  1. These are so cute! I think if I didn't have nightmares about shorts I made in 4H With the rear end on both sides, I might be brave enough to try them :-) maybe if you were here with me helping me out…?

    1. Oh thanks Jess! I wouldn't be able to make them without the help of a step by step pattern, otherwise, I'd be toast. :)
