Bursting January's bubble.

I used to struggle with January.

First there's that whole New Years Resolution thing.  It lasts for a good three days before it turns into a joke-olution?  Like Superman and me stuffing our faces with chocolate after we get the kids to bed and we look at each other and say, "Remember when we made that goal to be healthy? Bahaahaha!!  We're hilarious."

January the joke.  It's a tricky month in Idaho.  It mocks our lofty goals of going running because of it's frigid temps.  It tries to make us think winter will never end by turning the sky a dull gray and smudging the lovely white snow with dirt; half melting it, and then making it freeze over during the night.
But we won't be fooled.  We are onto you January.
We will play dress up and we'll wear our dreamiest creamiest whites.
Polka dot bubble skirt, pockets & all.
We won't fear your dirt.
Lila will put on my walmart pearls.  ;) hashtag classy
And give you her fiercest face.
And we will blow bubbles until our fingers break off.
We defy you, January.  Just try to get us down.

How to extend the length of a sleeve {tutorial}

Well hey there.

A few things.

Christmas vacation turned into everybody-got-sick-ation.

Then Superman and I started a new goal of keeping our house clean.  What?!  That goal alone pretty much claims all of our time.

Netflix added season 5 of White Collar and Season 8 of Psych.  So...I guess we'll see ya later.  :)

For now, here's a little tutorial I made while I was pregnant.  I was gaining what we'll call....padding on my arms making certain shirts a touch unflattering.  So in case you're like me and you don't really want errrverybody to see that adorable arm chub, look no further.

You'll need:

  • A knit shirt with sleeves intended to be extended {Dolman style works well}
  • Coordinating knit & thread
  • Sewing Machine
  • Iron

Measure the width of the sleeve.  Cut two rectangles {sleeve widthx2inches} out of the coordinating fabric.

Then repeat. Now:

Sew all the way around the sleeve opening.  Do to the other side and press bands outward

And wear away!  :)
